The minerals, and the forms they come in

Form matters enough that the panel spells it out. The magnesium is two sources rather than one: magnesium oxide, a simple mineral salt, and magnesium citrate, magnesium paired with citric acid. The zinc and the iron are both bisglycinate chelates — the mineral bound to glycine, the smallest amino acid. Folate is the L-5-MTHF-Ca form, measured in mcg DFE, and the B12 is methylcobalamin.

The probiotic

LactoSpore® is a branded form of Bacillus coagulans, a spore-forming bacterium. Spore-forming is the point: the organism carries its own protective coat, which is why it turns up in shelf-stable capsules rather than a refrigerated bottle. CFU stands for colony-forming units, the count of viable organisms — this panel lists 166 mg of LactoSpore® at 6 Billion CFU per serving.

The three blends

The Digestive Comfort & Soothing Blend is 325 mg of Gingerols™ Ginger Root Extract (Zingiber officinale, standardized to 5% gingerols), Peppermint Extract (leaf), Bromelain Powder (Ananas comosus, from pineapple stem, standardized to 2400 Gdu/g) and DigeZyme®. Gingerols are the pungent compounds ginger is measured by; Gdu is the unit bromelain is graded in.

The Energy & Vitality Complex is 126 mg of Ashwagandha Extract (root, 5% withanolides) with vitamin B12, B6 and folate — withanolides being the marker compounds an ashwagandha root extract is standardized against. The Nutrient Replenishment Matrix is 22 mg of zinc, iron, biotin and vitamin D3. Rounding it out is 5 mg of BioPerine®, a black pepper fruit extract.

How it's taken

Two capsules a day with 6-8 oz of water. The shell is hypromellose — a vegetable capsule, not gelatin — and the fill includes microcrystalline cellulose and medium chain triglycerides. Nothing to mix, no flavour to get used to.

Who it's for

Anyone who'd otherwise be buying magnesium, zinc and a probiotic as three separate bottles. Two capsules covers the lot.

How to use it

As a dietary supplement, adults take two (2) capsules daily. For best results, take with 6-8 oz (177-237ml) of water or as directed by healthcare professional.
