What L-glutamine is

Glutamine is an amino acid — one of the building blocks proteins are assembled from — and it's the most abundant free amino acid in human blood. Nutritionists call it conditionally essential, which is a classification rather than a claim: the body ordinarily makes its own, so it isn't on the list of essential amino acids you have to eat, but it's still a normal part of a diet that includes meat, dairy, eggs, beans and cabbage.

The L- in front of the name is the form question. Amino acids come in mirror-image versions, L and D, and L is the one proteins in food and in the body are built from. This is L-glutamine, and the panel lists it simply as L-Glutamine — a single ingredient, not glutamine counted inside a larger protein like whey or casein.

Why unflavored, and why silicon dioxide

An unflavored powder is the one you can put anywhere. It goes into water, juice, coffee, a protein shake or a pre-workout without stacking a second vanilla or fruit flavor on top of the first, and with no sweetener on the label there's nothing to taste around. That matters if you already take a flavored powder daily and don't want two of them competing in the same bottle.

Silicon dioxide is the only other ingredient, and it's there as an anti-caking agent — a fine mineral powder that keeps the scoop pouring freely instead of packing down into a block. At one to three servings a day, as the label allows, a 30-serving container lasts ten to thirty days.

How it's taken

A serving is one scoop, 3.3g, stirred into whatever you're drinking. Because no flavoring is on the ingredient list, there's no second flavor added to a coffee or a smoothie. The label allows one to three servings a day, so it's straightforward to split across a morning drink and a post-workout shake.

Who it's for

People building an amino acid routine around single actives rather than blends, anyone who already runs a stack and wants a clean unflavored powder to add to it, and anyone who'd rather read a two-line ingredient list than a twelve-line one. The unflavored, unsweetened format also suits people avoiding stevia and natural flavors generally.
