1mg Melatonin Sleep Strips

1mg Melatonin Sleep Strips pair a deliberately small 1mg of melatonin with 90mg of botanical extracts — 50mg valerian root, 20mg lavender, 10mg chamomile and 10mg hibiscus — in a 210mg raspberry strip that dissolves on your tongue. Thirty strips to a pack, one a night, nothing to swallow and no water needed at a bedside. The pack's own descriptor: Sleep & Relaxation Support Formula.*

Why 1mg

Melatonin is a hormone the body already makes on its own, on a rhythm that tracks the daily cycle of light and dark. As a supplement it's sold across a very wide range of doses, and a lot of what sits on the shelf is 5mg or 10mg a serving.

This one is 1mg. It's printed across the front of the pack rather than buried on the back, because it's the point of the product rather than a detail of it. If you'd rather start at the low end of the range, that's where this begins.

The four botanicals

Valerian root is the largest row on the panel at 50mg. It comes from a tall flowering plant whose root has been dried and brewed as an evening tea for a very long time — and whose smell is famously an acquired taste. In a strip you never meet it.

Lavender, at 20mg, is the purple-flowered shrub behind the essential oil and the culinary buds. Chamomile, at 10mg, is the small daisy-like flower that's been the default bedtime tea across half the world. Hibiscus, also 10mg, is the deep-red calyx that makes the tart ruby-coloured tea, and it sits naturally alongside a raspberry flavour.

Why a strip instead of a capsule or a gummy

The film is pullulan, a polysaccharide made by fermentation and the same material vegetarian capsule shells are made from, with cellulose for structure, lecithin holding it together and medium chain triglycerides carrying the blend. It goes on the tongue and dissolves.

That matters more at 11pm than it does at breakfast. There's nothing to chew, nothing to swallow and no reason to get up for a glass of water — which is the practical case for a strip over a capsule or a gummy at the end of the day.

How it tastes

Raspberry, sharpened with a little malic acid, over a sweetener set of xylitol, erythritol, sorbitol syrup and steviol glycosides. It's light and tart rather than candied, and it's gone within a few seconds.

Who it's for

Adults who want a low single-milligram melatonin rather than a 5mg or 10mg one, and who'd like botanicals in the mix instead of melatonin standing alone. It's vegan, gluten free and non-GMO, it carries no allergen line, and a pack is a month at one strip a night.

How to use it

Place 1 oral strip on the tongue daily and allow it to dissolve.
