What you get in every serving
- Magnesium — 275 mg, 65% DV
- From 2,500 mg of magnesium glycinate, printed on the panel in brackets beneath the magnesium figure
- Serving size is three (3) capsules — 90 capsules per bottle, 30 servings
- A single-ingredient panel: no proprietary blend, no second active, nothing folded in
- Vegan, gluten free, non-GMO
The two numbers, and why both are printed
This is the part that makes magnesium labels confusing, and it's the first thing to understand if you're comparing bottles.
2,500 mg is the weight of the magnesium glycinate — the whole compound, magnesium plus what it's attached to. 275 mg is the weight of the magnesium itself inside that compound, which is what "elemental magnesium" means and what the 65% Daily Value is calculated from. The gap between the two figures is the rest of that 2,500 mg, the part that isn't magnesium.
Both numbers matter, which is why both are on the panel. A label printing only the big number tells you how much powder you're swallowing. A label printing only the small one tells you nothing about the form. This one prints both in the same row, so there's nothing to work out.
WHAT "GLYCINATE" ACTUALLY MEANS
Magnesium is a mineral, and a mineral never turns up in a capsule on its own — it's always bound to a partner. That partner is what the second word on the bottle names. Magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, magnesium malate, magnesium glycinate: same mineral, different partner, different compound.
Here the partner is glycine, the smallest of the amino acids and one of the building blocks proteins are assembled from. A mineral bonded to an amino acid this way is called a chelate, which is why you'll see magnesium glycinate described as a chelated magnesium. The point for a shopper is straightforward — this label names the form instead of printing a bare "magnesium," so you know exactly which compound you're buying.
Why three capsules
2,500 mg of anything takes up real space, so the serving is spread across three capsules rather than crammed into one. That also makes the maths at the shelf easy: 90 capsules, three a day, thirty days. The bottle runs out when the month does.
How it's taken
Three capsules once daily, or as directed by your healthcare professional. There's nothing to measure, nothing to mix and nothing to taste. The capsule shell is hypromellose, a plant-cellulose material, which is what keeps this vegan. Magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide are the standard manufacturing flow agents, and rice flour takes up the rest of the space in the capsule. That's the complete list.
Who it's for
Anyone shopping magnesium by its form rather than by the word alone. Anyone who's picked up a bottle that said only "magnesium" and wanted to know what it was bound to. Vegans — the label carries a vegan claim, and the capsule is hypromellose rather than gelatin. And anyone who'd rather swallow three capsules once a day than stir another powder into a glass.
