About the vitamin D3

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, and it comes in two forms you'll see on labels: D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol). D3 is the one your own skin produces when it's exposed to sunlight, and it's the form in this strip. Two thousand IU is a common daily amount, and on this panel it works out to 250% of the Daily Value. Sun exposure is seasonal and latitude-dependent, and very few foods carry much vitamin D at all — which is why a daily D3 is one of the more widely taken supplements there is.

About the vitamin K2

Vitamin K is also fat-soluble, and it splits into K1 (phylloquinone, the form in leafy greens) and K2 (menaquinone, the form associated with fermented foods and some animal products). This strip uses the K2 menaquinone form at 120 mcg, which is 100% of the Daily Value. D3 and K2 are paired together on a lot of labels because they're both fat-soluble vitamins, and because two vitamins on one strip are far easier to keep up with than two separate bottles.

Why an oral strip

Vitamin D3 usually arrives as an oil-filled softgel, which means one more pill in the pile and a bottle you have to remember. Here the carrier is pullulan — a naturally derived polysaccharide that forms a thin, fast-dissolving film — set with cellulose, pectin and lecithin. Place one on your tongue and it's gone in seconds. Nothing to swallow, nothing to drink, nothing to refrigerate. That makes it an easy one to keep going while travelling, at a desk, or first thing before coffee.

How it tastes

Raspberry, with malic acid for a clean tart edge, sweetened with erythritol, sorbitol syrup and steviol glycosides rather than sugar. It's brief and bright — a few seconds of flavor rather than a chew or a drink.

Who it's for

Adults who want a daily vitamin D3 and K2 together in one step, people who don't like swallowing softgels, anyone topping up through darker months or after a long stretch indoors, and anyone who'd rather carry a slim pack than another bottle.
