What BHB actually is

BHB stands for beta-hydroxybutyrate, written on the panel in its acid form as β-hydroxybutyric acid. It's a ketone body — one of the small molecules the human liver assembles out of fat when carbohydrate is running low. Your body already knows this molecule; it makes its own.

On its own, β-hydroxybutyric acid is an acid, which is awkward to put in a capsule. So it's paired with a mineral to form a salt, which is stable and far easier to handle. That's why the panel lists calcium BHB, magnesium BHB and sodium BHB rather than BHB by itself — and it's why minerals appear at the top of the panel with their own amounts. The panel names a source beside each one: calcium from calcium citrate and calcium BHB, magnesium from magnesium BHB, sodium from sodium BHB.

Being straight about the proprietary blend

This matters when you're comparing labels, so here it is plainly: 800 mg is the total for the blend. The panel names the five things inside it — Calcium Citrate, MCT Powder, Calcium BHB, Magnesium BHB, Sodium BHB — and gives one number covering the lot, without breaking out an amount for each. We're not going to invent the numbers the panel doesn't print.

What the panel does quantify sits above the blend: calcium at 146 mg (11% DV), magnesium at 1 mg (4% DV), and sodium at 1 mg (under 1% DV).

MCT powder

MCT is medium-chain triglyceride — a fat whose chains are shorter than the long-chain fats in most of what you eat, which is a fat your body handles differently. In powder form it goes into a capsule instead of a bottle. It sits inside the proprietary blend, so the panel states no individual amount for it.

How it's taken

Two capsules a day with water. Nothing to measure, nothing to blend, no taste to negotiate with — which is the practical difference between capsules and a tub of exogenous ketone powder. One thing to say plainly: the capsule shell is gelatin, so this one isn't vegetarian.
