What bovine colostrum is

Colostrum is the first milk a cow produces in the days right after calving, before her milk turns over to ordinary mature milk. It's a different substance from the milk that follows — thicker, more concentrated, and much higher in protein. This powder is that colostrum, collected and dried. Because it starts as dairy, it's vegetarian, and it's the reason the allergen line reads Milk.

What the 25% and the 575mg mean

Colostrum isn't a single compound, so a panel that just said "2,300mg colostrum" wouldn't tell you much. This one is standardized: 25% of the colostrum by weight is immunoglobulin G, and 25% of 2,300mg is the 575mg IgG row. The two figures are the same thing counted two ways — total material, then the standardized fraction inside it.

Immunoglobulin G, or IgG, is a class of antibody protein. It's the most abundant immunoglobulin in colostrum, which is why it's the marker a colostrum supplement is standardized against. When you compare two colostrum products, that percentage is the number that actually differentiates them — the milligram total on the front of a tub means little without it.

The remaining panel rows are simply what comes along with dairy: 10 calories, a little calcium, a little potassium and a trace of sodium.

How it tastes and mixes

Mild and faintly creamy, closer to unsweetened milk powder than to anything sharp — there's no flavoring in it, because there's nothing in it but colostrum. Stir one scoop into 6-8 oz of cold water and drink it within ten minutes of mixing. Cold liquid is the instruction. It also goes into a smoothie, oats or yogurt without arguing with the flavor, and at 2.3g a scoop it disappears into almost anything.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants the shortest possible ingredient list, and anyone comparing colostrum powders who wants to see the IgG standardization stated rather than implied. It suits people already taking a stack, because a 2.3g unflavored scoop adds no sweetener and no taste of its own. It contains milk, so it isn't for anyone avoiding dairy.

How to use it

As a dietary supplement, adults use one (1) scoop of powder in 6-8 oz (177-237ml) of cold water or favorite beverage. Consume within 10 minutes of mixing.
