What colostrum actually is
Colostrum is the first milk a mammal produces in the days right after giving birth, before regular milk comes in. Its composition is different from the milk that follows, which is why it's collected and sold under its own name rather than as ordinary dairy. Bovine colostrum is the cow version, powdered and encapsulated.
It's worth saying plainly: this is a dairy-derived ingredient. The label declares Milk, and the "Contains" line below is the one to read if you avoid dairy.
WHAT IgG MEANS ON A COLOSTRUM LABEL
IgG stands for immunoglobulin G, a class of antibody protein that occurs naturally in colostrum. It's the figure colostrum gets compared on, because the percentage says what share of the powder that protein accounts for. This one reads IgG 25% — the panel prints that percentage directly under the 500mg, in the same row.
Having both numbers on one panel, the milligrams and the percentage, is what lets you set one bottle against another instead of comparing on dose alone.
The short ingredient list
Behind the colostrum there's very little. Organic long grain white rice flour heads the other-ingredients list. Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT oil) are a fat with a shorter carbon chain than the fats in most foods. L-leucine is an amino acid. Silicon dioxide is the anti-caking material used across dry supplements to keep a powder moving. The shell itself is cellulose — plant fibre, not gelatin — though the colostrum inside it is, of course, bovine.
How it's taken
One capsule, one to three times a day, with meals. That flexibility is built into the directions — one capsule at the low end, three spread across the day at the high end. There's nothing to taste either way, which is the practical argument for a capsule over a scoop.
Who it's for
Anyone shopping bovine colostrum by IgG content rather than milligrams alone. People who want a single-active capsule rather than a colostrum blend. Anyone who'd rather not swallow a gelatin capsule. Not for anyone avoiding dairy — the contains line is unambiguous.
