About the beet root powder
Beet root powder is exactly what the name says: beetroot — Beta vulgaris, the root, not the leafy tops — dried and milled to a fine powder. Drying concentrates it, which is how 1375mg of powder stands in for considerably more raw beet than you'd want to chew through before breakfast. It's also where the color comes from; the pigments that make a beet stain a chopping board are the same ones that turn a glass of this bright magenta-red. Powder is the practical form for beetroot, because raw beets are bulky, earthy and slow to prepare, and a scoop is neither.
About the hibiscus and apple
Hibiscus powder is made from the flower, dried and ground. It's the ingredient behind the tart, cranberry-like edge in a hibiscus tea, and it's what keeps this from tasting like a glass of soil. At 1000mg it's the second-biggest line on the panel, not a trace garnish.
Apple juice powder is apple juice with the water taken out — the fruit, dried down to a powder at 500mg a scoop. It brings a rounder, orchard sweetness that sits between the earth of the beet and the sharpness of the hibiscus.
The only two things left are maltodextrin, a carbohydrate made from starch that gives a fine powder enough body to scoop and pour evenly, and stevia extract (leaf), which is the sweetener.
How it tastes and mixes
Earthy first, then tart. Beetroot is naturally sweet-earthy, hibiscus cuts across it, and the apple bridges the two. Stir one scoop into 6-8 ounces of cold water and drink it within ten minutes of mixing — it's a fine powder in a small amount of liquid, and it's at its best fresh. Cold water keeps it cleanest. Some people prefer it in juice, a smoothie, or shaken over ice.
Who it's for
People who like beets and are never going to cook them, anyone building a morning drink that isn't coffee, and anyone who wants a short, readable ingredient list — three plant powders, a carrier and a leaf sweetener. At 3.25g a serving it's a small scoop, easy to add to a routine that already has a few things in it.
How to use it
As a dietary supplement, adults use one (1) scoop of powder in 6-8 ounces (177-237 ml) of cold water or favorite beverage once daily. Consume within 10 minutes of mixing.
Other ingredients
Beyond the three plant powders on the panel above: Maltodextrin, Stevia Extract (leaf).
