Reading the electrolyte rows

Electrolytes are minerals that break into charged particles in water — that charge is the reason the word exists. Four are on this label. Potassium is the headline at 200 mg, sodium sits at 100 mg, calcium at 40 mg and magnesium at 20 mg, so the ratio runs two parts potassium to one part sodium rather than the other way around.

All four are citrates: potassium citrate, sodium citrate, calcium citrate, magnesium citrate. A citrate is what you get when a mineral is bound to citric acid, and it's a deliberate choice for a drink powder because those salts dissolve fast and clean. It suits lemonade particularly well, too — citric acid is the compound that makes a lemon taste like a lemon.

The seven B vitamins

Seven members of the B family are on the panel, and every one of them is set to 33% of the Daily Value per scoop: thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12 and pantothenic acid (B5). They're water-soluble vitamins, the group the body doesn't hold in reserve the way it does the fat-soluble ones.

Two rows deserve translating. Niacin is measured in mg NE — niacin equivalents — because the body can also make niacin from the amino acid tryptophan, so the unit covers both routes. Folate reads 133 mcg DFE from 78 mcg of folic acid, DFE being dietary folate equivalents.

How it tastes and mixes

Straight lemonade — tart first, sweet after, no fruit-punch detour. Natural and artificial flavors do the lemon, citric acid supplies the pucker, and sucralose sweetens it without sugar or sugar alcohols. Beta carotene is in for color and gives it a pale golden tint rather than a neon one. Polydextrose forms the body of the 5.4 g scoop and calcium silicate keeps everything free-flowing in the tub.

One scoop is sized for 14–20 fl oz of water, so it's a bottle drink — cold water and a shake, and it goes clear.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants the most familiar flavor on the shelf in a no-sugar electrolyte mix — gym bag, job site, tennis court, or a jug in the fridge on a hot afternoon. Two grams of carbohydrate and 10 calories a scoop keep it compatible with low-carb, keto and fasting-style eating, and it's vegan, gluten free and non-GMO. Thirty scoops to the tub.

How to use it

Mix 1 scoop with 14–20 fl oz (414–591 mL) of water, or to taste. Use 2 scoops with double the water.

What's in it

Polydextrose, Citric acid, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Sucralose, Calcium Silicate, Beta Carotene (for color).
