Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules

Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules is a four-ingredient adaptogen complex built around 400 mg of shilajit extract, with tongkat ali, ashwagandha and sea moss beside it. One capsule a day, thirty capsules in the bottle — a full month, with nothing to measure and nothing to mix.

What you get in every capsule

  • 400 mg Shilajit Extract 30:1 (Asphaltum), from stone — the largest single amount in the formula
  • 100 mg Tongkat Ali Root Extract 300:1 (Eurycoma longifolia)
  • 100 mg Ashwagandha Root Extract 30:1 (Withania somnifera)
  • 100 mg Sea Moss Extract 20:1 (Chondrus crispus), from algae
  • An HPMC vegetable capsule — no gelatin
  • Vegan, gluten free and non-GMO
  • Daily Value isn't established for any of the four, which is what the ** beside each row on the panel means

What shilajit is

Shilajit is a dark, tar-like material that seeps out of rock faces in high mountain ranges, and that's why the panel names it Asphaltum and gives its part as "stone" rather than a leaf, a root or a seed. It's gathered rather than farmed, which makes it one of the few things on a supplement shelf that isn't botanical in the usual sense. Here it arrives as a 30:1 extract at 400 mg per capsule.

What the extract ratios mean

The numbers beside each name — 30:1, 300:1, 20:1 — are concentration ratios, and they're worth knowing how to read. A 30:1 extract means thirty parts of starting material were reduced down to one part of finished extract. The tongkat ali in this bottle is a 300:1, the most concentrated ratio of the four. A ratio describes how far the raw material was taken down, not how much of any one compound ends up in the capsule, so read it next to the milligrams rather than instead of them.

The other three

Tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) is a slender Southeast Asian shrub, and it's the root that's used here — the panel is specific about that. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a short evergreen shrub grown across India and parts of Africa, also the root, at a 30:1 extract. Sea moss (Chondrus crispus) isn't a plant at all: it's a red algae that grows on Atlantic rock, better known to most people as Irish moss, here at 20:1. All three sit at 100 mg.

How it's taken

One capsule with water, and that's the whole routine. The shell is HPMC — hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a cellulose that comes from plants — which is what keeps these capsules vegan where a gelatin shell wouldn't be. Olive oil and Nu-FLOW® are the only other things inside. If you've met shilajit as a resin before, this is the version without the spoon, the sticky jar or the earthy mouthful.

Who it's for

Anyone who'd rather buy shilajit, tongkat ali and ashwagandha in one bottle than in three, and anyone who wants a daily routine that stays a single capsule long. Vegan, gluten free and non-GMO, so it slots into most ways of eating, and a once-daily serving is an easy one to stay consistent with — consistency being most of what a botanical routine actually asks of you.

How to use it

Adults take one (1) capsule daily. For best results, take with 6-8 oz (177-237ml) of water or as directed by healthcare professional.

Other ingredients

HPMC (vegetable capsule), Nu-FLOW®, Olive Oil.
