The short answer: Libido strips vs capsules is mostly a question of how much fits in one serving and how you like to take things. Our Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips list 120 mg of actives in a chocolate strip that melts on your tongue. Each of the three libido capsules on our Targeted Support shelf lists more than 900 mg per serving, built from different herbs. We found no study comparing the two formats, so choose by ingredients first.
Key takeaways
- Each Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strip lists 120 mg of actives per 1-strip serving, while each of our three libido capsules lists more than 900 mg per serving.
- Our libido strip's cordyceps, shilajit and oyster peptide appear in none of our three libido capsules, which all list epimedium (horny goat weed) instead.
- No libido format has been shown to work better, and the NIH's complementary health center says no complementary approach has proven safe and effective for sexual enhancement.
- The strip needs no water and no pill to swallow, but its oyster peptide makes it a poor fit for anyone with a shellfish allergy.
- Zinc rules out doubling up on our tribulus capsules: one lists 30 mg per 3-capsule serving and the other 26 mg per 2-capsule serving, 56 mg together against a 40 mg adult upper limit.
We sell all four products compared here, so we're not a neutral referee. We've stuck to what each Supplement Facts panel prints, including where our own strip comes up short on milligrams.
Libido strips vs capsules: what's actually different?
The biggest difference between our libido strips and capsules is size: one strip lists 120 mg of actives, and each capsule serving lists roughly eight to eleven times that.
In our line, the strip and the capsules are separate formulas, not one recipe in two shapes. The strip pairs Cordyceps militaris and shilajit with a little oyster peptide. Our Horny Goat Weed & Maca Capsules are built around epimedium, and our Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium Capsules around tribulus, each with a handful of smaller herbs. Our Tribulus & Ginseng Women's Libido Capsules combine B vitamins, zinc and L-arginine with a 14-ingredient blend.
Those three share our Targeted Support shelf. Our Organic Maca Root Capsules print a libido descriptor too, but as a single-herb maca formula they sit with our adaptogens, outside this comparison.
| Product (serving) | How you take it | Listed per serving | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Libido strip (1 strip) | Melts on the tongue, once daily | 120 mg, 3 actives | Chocolate; contains shellfish |
| Horny goat weed & maca (2 capsules) | Swallowed once a day | 1,164.5 mg, 9 rows | Gelatin capsule shell |
| Tribulus, zinc & magnesium (3 capsules) | Swallowed before bedtime | 1,305 mg, 9 rows | 30 mg zinc; vegan claim |
| Women's libido (2 capsules) | Swallowed daily with water | Over 930 mg | 26 mg zinc; 802 mg blend |
Read the third column with care. It adds up every row on each panel, mixing extracts, powders, amino acids and minerals, so a bigger total isn't a stronger or better product.
How much can one libido strip hold?
One Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strip weighs 280 mg in total, per its serving size line, and 120 mg of that weight is the three active ingredients.
The panel breaks those 120 mg down as 50 mg of Cordyceps militaris, 50 mg of shilajit and 20 mg of oyster peptide. The other 160 mg is everything in the Other Ingredients line: pullulan, cellulose, pectin and lecithin, plus chocolate flavor and four sweeteners.
A 2-capsule serving of Horny Goat Weed & Maca opens with 1,000 mg of epimedium extract, and eight more rows follow it. That single row outweighs three whole strips. Three Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium Capsules carry 750 mg of tribulus, then still fit 200 mg of magnesium and 30 mg of zinc beside six more plant ingredients.
That's the trade-off with libido support strips like ours. The label sets one strip a day, so this format won't deliver capsule-sized amounts, and it isn't trying to.
Bigger isn't automatically better, though. No source we read names an amount of any of these ingredients that's been shown to support libido.
Do libido strips work, or absorb faster than capsules?
We couldn't find any study that tested our libido strip, or compared libido strips with capsules, for results or for how quickly the ingredients are absorbed.
The format doesn't change the evidence behind the ingredients, either. NCCIH, the NIH's complementary health center, published a digest on supplements sold for sexual enhancement that looks at ingredients, not delivery formats. So its bottom line, that "no complementary health approaches have been shown to be safe and effective for sexual enhancement," covers a strip as much as a capsule.
Our label says only to "place 1 oral strip on the tongue daily and allow it to dissolve." It says nothing about speed, and we haven't seen a published absorption study for this strip.
The strip's headline ingredients have thin evidence of their own, as our review of what's known about cordyceps and libido lays out.
Can you compare milligrams across a strip and a capsule?
Only loosely, because our libido labels mix extracts, raw powders and a proprietary blend, so equal milligrams on two panels don't mean equal strength.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements explains why in its botanical supplement background sheet: the same amount of a plant may sit in a cup of tea, a few teaspoons of tincture or an even smaller amount of extract.
Set the strip's rows beside a capsule row and the gaps show. Our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules print "Shilajit Extract 30:1" at 400 mg per 1-capsule serving. The strip's 50 mg shilajit row gives no form or ratio, so you can't tell raw material from a concentrate.
The strip's Cordyceps militaris row names no part of the fungus and no extract either. The epimedium row on Horny Goat Weed & Maca, by contrast, names the plant part and states 100 mg of icariins, a marker our icariin label guide explains.
One capsule is harder to read than the strip, though. The women's formula tucks its epimedium powder into an 802 mg proprietary blend. Under 21 CFR 101.36, a blend lists its ingredients heaviest first beside one combined weight, so epimedium, named first, is the largest share, though its size isn't printed. Every strip row carries its own amount.
Which libido supplement format fits your routine?
Our libido strip suits people who'd rather not swallow pills or need water, while a capsule suits people who want larger listed amounts and don't mind two or three pills.
| If you... | Lean toward | Label detail behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Can't or won't swallow pills | The strip | 1 strip, dissolved on the tongue |
| Want more milligrams per serving | A capsule | 930 to 1,305 mg per serving |
| Have a shellfish allergy | A capsule | Strip lists oyster peptide |
| Eat vegan | Tribulus, zinc & magnesium | The only vegan claim of the four |
| Already take zinc | Strip or horny goat weed & maca | Neither lists zinc |
| Want every amount printed | Anything but the women's formula | Its herbs share one blend total |
The takeaway: allergies, diet and the zinc you already get should narrow the field before taste or convenience does.
Taste is the other practical split. The strip tastes of chocolate, with four sweeteners on its Other Ingredients line, while the capsules list no flavor. Discretion is close to a tie: 30 strips come in a square tin, and the capsules come in bottles of 60 or 90. All four sit side by side in our Targeted Support collection.
From our shop: Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips — a single chocolate strip weighing 280 mg is the whole daily serving, carrying 50 mg of Cordyceps militaris, 50 mg of shilajit and 20 mg of oyster peptide, with 30 servings in each tin.
How do you take each libido format, per the label?
Our libido labels set four different routines: one strip dissolved on the tongue daily, or two to three capsules a day, depending on the formula.
- Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips: "Place 1 oral strip on the tongue daily and allow it to dissolve." No time of day is named.
- Horny Goat Weed & Maca Capsules: "Take two (2) capsules once a day."
- Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium Capsules: "Take three (3) capsules before bedtime."
- Tribulus & Ginseng Women's Libido Capsules: "take two (2) capsules daily with water."
Each of the four labels also tells you, "Do not exceed recommended dose."
Choose a single product instead of stacking two. Zinc makes the clearest case. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements lists the adult upper limit for zinc as 40 mg a day, and that figure is a total of everything: meals, drinks, supplements and medicines. The two tribulus capsules would give you 56 mg from the labels alone, before a bite of food.
Overlap is the other reason. Horny Goat Weed & Maca and Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium both list epimedium, longjack and saw palmetto, so taking both repeats three herbs.
The strip shares nothing with our three libido capsules, but it does overlap our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules, which list 400 mg of shilajit extract 30:1 per 1-capsule serving. Taking both doubles up on shilajit, so pick one. Cordyceps also turns up in several of our other capsules, gummies and drops, so check what you already take for the strip's three ingredients.
From our shop: Horny Goat Weed & Maca Capsules — two gelatin capsules a day per the label, carrying 62.5 mg of maca powder beside an epimedium extract row of 1,000 mg that states 100 mg of icariins.
What about libido gummies vs capsules?
We don't sell a libido gummy, but the same label check applies to one: read the serving size line, the amount per serving, and whether the panel lists sugars.
That federal rule, 21 CFR 101.36, requires the Serving Size line to use a term that fits the product's form, such as capsules or tablets. That's why ours read "1 Oral Strip (280 mg)" and "2 Capsules." On a gummy, that line tells you how many gummies make one serving.
The same rule makes a panel list total and added sugars whenever a serving holds more than can be declared as zero, so on a gummy, look for that row.
When don't you need a libido strip or capsule?
You can skip both libido formats if you're after proven results, already get zinc or the same herbs elsewhere, or have noticed a change in desire that deserves a real conversation.
- You want proof first. NCCIH's review didn't find it for any complementary approach, and a new format doesn't change that.
- Zinc is already in your routine. Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium adds 30 mg per 3-capsule serving and the women's formula 26 mg per 2-capsule serving, on top of what you get now.
- You already take epimedium, shilajit or cordyceps. All three of our libido capsules list epimedium, and the strip carries the other two.
- A shift in your desire or energy is bothering you. Bring it to a healthcare provider, since a lot besides a supplement can be in play.
Who should check with a healthcare provider first?
Ask a provider before any of these four products if you're pregnant or nursing, younger than 18, on a prescription, due for surgery or managing a medical condition.
The four labels share one printed caution: "Consult a physician if pregnant, nursing, under 18, or have a medical condition." One label adds a stricter line. The Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium warning reads: "Do not use if pregnant or lactating."
Worth raising at that visit:
- The strip's allergen line reads "Contains: Shellfish (Oyster peptide)."
- The strip's erythritol and sorbitol are sugar alcohols, worth flagging if you've been asked to limit them.
- The women's formula's blend includes ginkgo, dong quai and Asian ginseng, and the Horny Goat Weed & Maca Capsules list 20 mg of Asian ginseng. Our libido supplement safety checklist goes herb by herb through the medicine questions they raise.
One warning covers the whole category, whatever the format. NCCIH's digest notes that many products promoted for sexual enhancement have turned out to be adulterated with drug ingredients, which no Supplement Facts panel will show you. Be wary of unfamiliar brands promising dramatic results.
FAQ: libido strips vs capsules
Can you take a libido strip and a libido capsule on the same day?
None of our labels suggests pairing the Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips with a capsule, and we found no study of the combination. The strip shares no active ingredient with our three libido capsules, though our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules repeat its shilajit. Start with one product. If you're weighing a pair, show your healthcare provider both labels first, and never combine our two zinc-containing capsules.
Do libido strips need water?
No, the Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips label doesn't call for water. Its directions say to place one strip on your tongue once a day and let it dissolve. That's the format's practical edge over our capsules, which you swallow. Of our three libido capsule labels, only the women's formula mentions water in its directions.
Do libido strips contain sugar?
Our Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips print no sugar line on their panel, and neither do our three libido capsules. Where they part ways is flavor. The strip gets its chocolate taste with help from monk fruit extract, steviol glycosides and two sugar alcohols. The capsules list no sweetener or flavor at all. Beyond the capsule shell, their extras are rice flour and magnesium stearate, plus silicon dioxide in the women's formula.
Are libido strips vegan?
No, not our Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips: each strip's 20 mg of oyster peptide comes from shellfish. Among our libido capsules, the answer turns on the shell. Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium uses a vegetable capsule and carries a vegan claim. Horny Goat Weed & Maca uses gelatin. The women's formula also uses a vegetable capsule, but its label makes no vegan claim, so we won't call it vegan.
How long does a tin of libido strips last?
A tin of Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips covers 30 days at the label's one strip a day, the same span as each of our three libido capsule bottles, since all four hold 30 servings. The bottles simply hold more pieces: 60 capsules for the two-a-day formulas and 90 for Tribulus, Zinc & Magnesium.
