Shilajit and Cordyceps Together: Dose Math

Shilajit and cordyceps together, label by label: our strip lists 50 mg of each, and here's how the totals add up if you already take a capsule or gummy.

The short answer: We found no study that tested shilajit and cordyceps together and no federal advice on the pair, so the useful question is how much of each ends up in your day. One of our Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips lists 50 mg of shilajit and 50 mg of Cordyceps militaris per 1-strip serving. If you also take our shilajit capsule, your day holds 450 mg of shilajit from two labels.

Key takeaways

  • Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin from mountain rock and cordyceps is a fungus, so this pairing joins two unrelated ingredients, not two mushrooms.
  • Our libido strip lists 50 mg each of shilajit and Cordyceps militaris, plus 20 mg of oyster peptide, per 1-strip serving.
  • NIH's LiverTox reference says cordyceps' claimed benefits haven't been convincingly shown in human trials, and we found no shilajit entry in it.
  • Our shilajit capsule and cordyceps gummy aren't one-ingredient products: the capsule lists four actives and the gummy five.
  • Every strip lists shellfish (oyster peptide), so a shellfish allergy rules it out.

A disclosure before the math: two Betterly products hold both ingredients and several more hold one of them, so almost any choice here earns us money. Each product amount below is taken from the named product's own Supplement Facts panel.

Can you take shilajit and cordyceps together?

Shilajit and cordyceps can be taken together, and several products combine them, but we found no study of the pair and no federal advice on mixing them.

LiverTox, the National Institutes of Health's database of liver effects from medicines, herbs and supplements, keeps a full cordyceps entry, last updated in July 2026. In the trials it reviews, side effects from cordyceps extracts were few and mild. When we searched LiverTox for shilajit in September 2026, it returned nothing.

So half of this pairing has a federal safety summary and half doesn't. What you can control is the amount on each label, and whether a second product quietly repeats one of them.

Is shilajit a mushroom like cordyceps?

No, shilajit isn't a mushroom. It's a sticky, mineral-rich resin that forms in mountain rock, whereas cordyceps is a true fungus, a parasite of insect larvae in nature.

A Supplement Facts panel shows the split. Our strip prints shilajit as Asphaltum punjabianum, and our capsule writes "Asphaltum" with "(Stone)" beneath it, naming no plant or fungus part. A cordyceps row names the fungus, sometimes with the part used, such as mycelium. Our guide to shilajit's forms and how it's taken compares resin, powder and capsules.

Cordyceps rows vary by brand, too. Our strip names Cordyceps militaris, while LiverTox notes that the bulk of cordyceps on the market is grown in labs from a strain known as Cs-4. Our review of the cordyceps libido evidence sorts out the species and what human trials measured.

What are shilajit and cordyceps benefits, and why pair them?

Shilajit and cordyceps are paired because each carries an old stamina-and-vitality reputation, but no trial we found shows a benefit from taking the two together.

Cordyceps has more federal documentation. LiverTox dates its use in traditional Chinese medicine back more than 1,500 years and says modern products are sold for energy, athletic performance and sexual function, among other goals.

Its conclusion is blunt, though: human clinical trials haven't convincingly confirmed any of the benefits sellers attach to cordyceps, whatever lab and animal studies suggest.

Shilajit's reputation grew in Ayurveda, India's traditional medicine system, and NIH has no fact sheet on it that we could find.

The strip format keeps both amounts small. The whole strip weighs 280 mg, and its three actives add up to 120 mg; the rest is its other ingredients, such as pullulan, sweeteners and chocolate flavor. Putting shilajit and cordyceps on one strip is a formulation choice built on two traditions, not a tested recipe. The tin's "Supports Normal Sexual Function*" carries an asterisk pointing to the FDA notice that the statement hasn't been evaluated.

How much shilajit and cordyceps is in a combo strip?

The Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips hold 50 mg each of shilajit and Cordyceps militaris per 1-strip serving, small amounts next to our shilajit capsule and cordyceps gummy.

  • Shilajit: the strip's 50 mg is one-eighth of the 400 mg in our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules. The capsule's row is a 30:1 extract and the strip's gives no ratio, so they don't compare like for like.
  • Cordyceps: the strip's 50 mg is a quarter of the 200 mg in each of our Cordyceps Mushroom Energy Gummies. The strip names its species; the gummy's row says only "Cordyceps Extract."
  • Against commercial products: LiverTox reports that commercial cordyceps products recommend 0.5 to 4 grams a day. The strip's 50 mg of cordyceps is a tenth of that low end.

That's the honest limit of this strip. For shilajit, no federal source we found sets any amount, so there's nothing official to hold its 50 mg against.

Are you doubling up with a shilajit capsule or cordyceps gummy?

Yes, adding the strip to a shilajit capsule or a cordyceps gummy doubles up, because each label brings its own dose of an ingredient the strip already carries.

The table adds up each label's directions as a count, not a suggestion: none of these labels mentions combining products, and each says "Do not exceed recommended dose."

What you take (per label)Shilajit a dayCordyceps a dayOther actives added
Strip alone (1 strip)50 mg50 mgOyster peptide, 20 mg

Capsule + gummies, no strip400 mg200 to 400 mgThe capsule's and gummy's extras
Strip + capsule + gummies450 mg250 to 450 mgEvery extra above

The strip is the smallest contributor wherever it appears: the capsule sets most of your shilajit total and the gummy most of your cordyceps total. The sums also mix a 30:1 extract with rows that give no ratio, so read them as label amounts, not equal doses.

Other labels of ours list one or both (per each label's serving):

  • Ashwagandha & Holy Basil Ayurvedic Capsules: 25 mg of shilajit and 25 mg of cordyceps mycelium per capsule, so this one already pairs the two.
  • Lion's Mane & Maitake Focus Strips: 25 mg of Cordyceps sinensis per strip.
  • Cordyceps & Lion's Mane Energy Drops: 100 mg of cordyceps extract per 1 ml.
  • Chaga & Cordyceps Mushroom Drops: 50 mg of cordyceps extract per 1 ml.
  • Mushroom Capsules: 266 mg of Cordyceps sinensis mycelium powder per 2-capsule serving.
  • Mushroom Gummies and Organic 6 Mushroom Blend Powder: cordyceps inside a blend, with no amount of its own.
  • Beet Root & Berry Reds Powder: shilajit inside a 400 mg blend, with no amount of its own.

Taking many different supplements is one of the habits the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) ties to a higher chance of side effects, alongside high doses, in its guide Dietary Supplements: What You Need to Know.

Combo strip or separate products: which fits you?

The combo strip fits if you want small, fixed amounts of both; separate products fit if you want a larger amount of one of them, or no oyster peptide.

If you...Simplest optionThe label detail behind it
Want both, in small fixed amountsThe strip alone50 mg of each per strip
Mainly want shilajitThe capsule alone400 mg extract 30:1, plus tongkat ali, ashwagandha, sea moss
Mainly want cordycepsThe gummies alone200 mg per gummy, plus GABA, ginkgo, DMAE, L-glutamine
Have a shellfish allergySkip the strip"Contains: Shellfish (Oyster peptide)"
Limit added sugarStrip or capsuleEach gummy lists 2 g added sugar

Read down the middle column and the answer is almost always one product, not two. Just know that "mainly shilajit" still brings tongkat ali and ashwagandha along, and "mainly cordyceps" brings ginkgo and DMAE. The strip makes sense only when you truly want both ingredients at modest amounts and shellfish isn't a concern.

Format is its own question, and our comparison of libido strips and capsules takes it on.

From our shop: Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips — one 280 mg chocolate strip a day, per the label, carrying both halves of this pairing at 50 mg each alongside 20 mg of oyster peptide.

How do you take a shilajit and cordyceps strip?

The label's suggested use for the Shilajit & Cordyceps Libido Strips is one strip daily, laid on the tongue to dissolve.

  1. Check your other panels first for shilajit, Asphaltum or a cordyceps row, using the list above.
  2. Let one strip melt on your tongue. That's the whole direction: it mentions no water, food or hour, and the panel lists no caffeine.
  3. Keep to one strip a day. The tin's caution opens with "Do not exceed recommended dose."
  4. Know what sweetens it. There's no sugar row; the other ingredients include two sugar alcohols, erythritol and sorbitol, plus monk fruit extract and steviol glycosides. The product also carries a gluten-free claim.

When don't you need shilajit and cordyceps at all?

You don't need a shilajit and cordyceps product if you already take either ingredient, want proven outcomes first, react to shellfish, or have a concern that belongs with a clinician.

  • One of them is already in your routine. Our capsule or gummies bring more of their ingredient than the strip does.
  • You want evidence before you spend. LiverTox finds cordyceps' claimed benefits unproven in people, and we found no federal review of shilajit.
  • Shellfish is off the menu. The strip is out, full stop.
  • Your energy or sex drive has shifted and it worries you. That deserves a talk with a healthcare provider.

From our shop: Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules — one vegan capsule a day with 400 mg of Shilajit Extract 30:1, no oyster peptide and no allergen line on its panel, though tongkat ali, ashwagandha and sea moss share the capsule.

Who should skip shilajit and cordyceps or ask a provider first?

Ask a healthcare provider before taking shilajit and cordyceps if you're pregnant, nursing, under 18, on prescription or over-the-counter medicine, due for surgery or managing a medical condition. With a shellfish allergy, skip the strip entirely.

The tin's printed caution: "Consult a physician if pregnant, nursing, under 18, or have a medical condition." Beyond that line:

  • Shellfish allergy. Oyster peptide rules the strip out. A panel with no allergen line doesn't tell you how a product was made, so let your allergist judge any replacement.
  • Pregnancy and nursing. ODS points out that many supplements lack solid safety testing in women who are pregnant or nursing.
  • Medication. ODS advises getting your provider's approval before taking supplements alongside prescribed medicines. Bring every panel.
  • Surgery. ODS notes that some supplements can make bleeding more likely, and some taken before an operation can affect how anesthesia works for you. Name every one at your pre-op visit.
  • Metals. NCCIH's overview of Ayurvedic medicine cautions that lead, mercury or arsenic can be present in some Ayurvedic preparations at toxic amounts. It doesn't name shilajit, but shilajit comes from that tradition, so ask sellers for batch metal results. We don't publish batch documents for any of our shilajit products yet, so we can't show you ours either. Our guide on how to tell if shilajit is real explains what a useful report shows.

NCCIH's clinical digest on sexual-enhancement supplements covers a category our strip belongs to. It says many products promoted for sexual enhancement have been found adulterated with drug ingredients or related substances left off their labels. So if you take prescription medicine, show any libido product to your provider first, and stop and call them if something feels off.

FAQ: shilajit and cordyceps together

Is it safe to take shilajit and cordyceps every day?

Shilajit and cordyceps are sold for daily use, and our strip's label says one strip a day, but only cordyceps has a federal safety summary. LiverTox describes side effects in cordyceps trials as uncommon and minimal, with dry mouth, nausea and rash among those it lists. We found no comparable federal summary for shilajit. If you take medication, are pregnant or nursing, or manage a medical condition, get your provider's okay first.

When should you take shilajit and cordyceps?

No label or federal source names a best time to take shilajit and cordyceps. Our strip's directions say only to take one daily and let it dissolve on your tongue, with no meal or hour attached, and the panel lists no caffeine. So pick any time you'll remember each day and keep it.

Can you take shilajit, cordyceps and ashwagandha together?

Yes, and one of our labels already holds shilajit, cordyceps and ashwagandha. Each Ashwagandha & Holy Basil Ayurvedic Capsule carries 125 mg of ashwagandha root (2.5% extract), 25 mg of shilajit and 25 mg of cordyceps mycelium, per its panel. Our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules also pair shilajit with 100 mg of ashwagandha root extract. We found no study of the trio, so pick one product rather than stacking two that overlap.

Can you take shilajit and cordyceps with tongkat ali?

You can, but we found no study of shilajit, cordyceps and tongkat ali together, and our two labels would stack 450 mg of shilajit. That's our strip plus our Shilajit & Tongkat Ali Capsules, which together also list 50 mg of Cordyceps militaris and 100 mg of tongkat ali root extract. Neither label suggests taking it with the other. If you're considering the combination, show both panels to your healthcare provider first.

How long before you notice anything from shilajit and cordyceps?

Nobody can honestly say how long shilajit and cordyceps take, because we found no trial of the pair and LiverTox finds cordyceps' promoted benefits unproven in people. Our strip's label names no time frame either. If you try it, keep to one strip a day at a steady time. Feeling no difference is never a reason to take more than the label's single strip.
