No blend, no hiding

The thing to notice first is what this panel doesn't do. There's no proprietary blend — no single number covering a dozen herbs at once. All seventeen rows carry their own milligram figure, and where a traditional Ayurvedic compound appears, the panel spells out the parts inside it. Triphala is broken down into amla (Phyllanthus emblica), bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) and haritaki (Terminalia chebula) fruit powders. Trikatu is broken down into black pepper fruit, long pepper fruit and ginger root powders.

The three on the front

Ashwagandha has been used in Ayurveda for centuries, and what appears here is the root as a 2.5% extract at 125mg — a standardised extract rather than raw milled root, meaning the material is concentrated to a fixed marker level.

Holy basil, also called tulsi, is here as the leaf at 50mg, a 2% extract.

Turmeric root takes the largest single row at 150mg, and it's a 95% extract — the highest standardisation percentage printed anywhere on this panel.

The rest of the panel

The rest reads like a tour of the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia: brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) leaf at 75mg as a 20% extract, cinnamon bark powder (Cinnamomum wilsonii) at 75mg, then a long tail at 25mg each — garlic bulb, amla fruit, sandalwood wood powder, clove bud, celery seed, licorice root, shilajit, cordyceps mycelium, lavender and peppermint leaf. Most rows name the plant part used as well as the plant, the detail generic herbal capsules usually leave out.

How it's taken

One capsule a day, ideally with a meal. The shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose — a plant-derived cellulose, which is what keeps this vegan — with vegetable magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide as the only other ingredients on the list.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants an Ayurvedic herbal formula and would rather read a full panel than a blend total. It suits vegans, people avoiding gluten, and anyone who'd otherwise buy ashwagandha, turmeric, holy basil, triphala and brahmi as five separate bottles.

How to use it

Take 1 capsule daily preferably with a meal or as directed by a healthcare professional.

What's in it

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, Vegetable magnesium stearate, Silicon dioxide.
